Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy was last revised on February 5, 2026.

1 General

At I.GURU, we care about your personal information, so we have prepared this Privacy Policy to explain how we collect, use, and share it. This Privacy Policy applies to I.GURU websites and related services (“Service”). By using the Service, you agree with I.GURU’s collection, use, and sharing of your personal information in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy.

Please note that I.GURU is constantly testing and improving our product features. Any features discussed in this Privacy Policy may not be available to all users or in all jurisdictions.

2 Information We Collect

When you use the Service, I.GURU may collect the following personal information about you.

a. Account Registration

To register for an I.GURU account, you may provide us with a username, your age and email address. In some countries, you may also provide us with your phone number.

You may also register for an I.GURU account using certain social logins, such as Google. If you register for I.GURU using a social login, I.GURU may receive information about you from your social login provider, including your email address and contacts. If you try to log in with a password when you have registered using a social login, we may remind you to log in using the social provider instead.

You can manage your I.GURU account and social logins in the profile settings.

b. Profile and Public Profile Information

After you register for your I.GURU account, a profile page may be created for you (“Profile”). Your Profile will be populated by information you submit, such as your name, bio, and profile picture (“Public Profile Information”) and your username. Your age, phone number, and email address are not included in your public Profile and are not considered Public Profile Information under this Privacy Policy. Other I.GURU users may be able to search for your Profile using your name, username, email address, or phone number.

Your Profile will also include information about your learning progress, such as the microdegrees you are working on, your learning statistics, and your earned microdegrees. Moreover, your Profile will show a list of your followers and the users you follow. We call users that follow each other “Classmates” or “Alumni”.

By default, your Profile is public, and visible to other I.GURU users and anyone else on the Internet. In addition, your Public Profile Information may be publicly visible. If your Profile is public, third-party websites or web scrapers may be able to read, collect, and use your public information for their own purposes. However, you can set your Profile to private in your Settings.

I.GURU may scan or review any Public Profile Information, or share your Public Profile Information with a third-party content moderation service provider, to ensure compliance with our Community Guidelines. I.GURU may restrict or delete Public Profile Information if it violates our Community Guidelines or for any other reason.

c. AI Features & Video Call

I.GURU uses Artificial Intelligence (“AI”) to help create exams and other content based on users’ learning activity. For example, AI might be used to generate questions based on a book’s content, or AI may be used to lead practice conversations to help prepare for an I.GURU microdegree oral defense.

I.GURU offers a Video Call feature where you can have live video conversations with an I.GURU faculty or staff member. I.GURU may use AI to transcribe these conversations for academic evaluation or quality assurance purposes.

When you interact with Video Call or other AI-enabled features, the text and audio you submit may be shared with AI vendors such as OpenAI and Google. I.GURU’s agreements with these AI vendors mean they are not permitted to use any personal information for their own purposes. Additionally, I.GURU may generate, record, and store audio recordings or transcripts of the text and audio you submit, and use these recordings or transcripts for product improvement and personalization purposes, including training and running I.GURU’s own artificial intelligence models. Please do not submit any personal, sensitive, or confidential information when using Video Call or other AI features.

d. Activity Data & IP Addresses

When you use the Service, we may generate data about your use of the Service, which may include your browser and device data, log data, and IP address. We will also generate data regarding your engagement in educational activities on the Service.

e. Cookies

When you access the I.GURU website, we store certain data from your browser using cookies. A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user’s computer tied to data about the user. We use session ID cookies to confirm that users are logged in. If you do not want your data to be collected by cookies, there is a simple procedure in most browsers that allows you to deny or accept the cookie feature. However, cookies may be necessary to provide you with certain features available on the website (e.g., staying logged in).

f. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, which is a web analytics tool that helps us understand how users engage with our website. Like many services, Google Analytics uses first-party cookies to track user interactions, as in our case, where they are used to collect information about how users use our site. This information is used to compile reports and to help us improve our site. These reports disclose website trends without identifying individual visitors. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing Google’s browser add-on available here.
